FAQ

EVERYTHING YOU HAVE ALWAYS WANTED TO KNOW ABOUT THE FENIX SCHOOL.

HOW EXPERIENCED IS THE PRINCIPAL IN THE EDUCATIONAL FIELD?

The principal holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Educational Science and a Masters degree in languages. Added to that, she has been teaching both children and young adults for more than 10 years. She has also organised educational trips to Germany to promote cultural and linguistic exchanges.

WHICH SUBJECTS ARE TAUGHT AT THE FENIX SCHOOL?

We teach English, French, Science, Mathematics, History and Geography, CAS (Creativity, Action and Skills), Visual Arts, drama, dance, music, sports, World Discovery, craft, Spanish (in Grade 2), Digital Literacy (in Grade 3). Languages, Arts and Sports are key ingredients of our pupils' progress and success and we therefore devote additional time and attention to these.

DOES THE SCHOOL WELCOME SLOW LEARNERS?

Our structure has been specifically planned so as to accommodate pupils of different abilities and interests. So far, all of them have greatly benefited from our uniquely innovative methods. However, please note that The Fenix School is no specialised school and we do not provide assistance to pupils with global development delay, autistic children or pupils with challenging learning difficulties (such as dyxpraxia).

DOES THE SCHOOL WELCOME AUTISTIC CHILDREN?

We are not capable of welcoming autistic children. We are mainstream teachers who use creativity and fun activities to challenge our pupils - which according to our previous experience are not suitable for autistic children.

HOW DOES THE FENIX SCHOOL COMPARE WITH OTHER PRIVATE PRIMARY SCHOOLS?

Our main aim is to offer a qualitative education at competitive rates. We are at least 30 percent cheaper than other schools in the same range. As far as our approach is concerned, we believe that there is no other school in Mauritius that offers such dynamic, child-centered, creative and fun approach as ours. The fact that we do not promote competition among our pupils is also very important as it enables our pupils to "grow" at their pace, in a very sound atmosphere.

WHAT ABOUT SCHOOL HOURS?

We are open from 7.45 a.m to 3.30 p.m.

DOES THE SCHOOL HAVE A CANTEEN?

We hope to offer a healthy meal plan comprising breakfast and lunch as from January 2022. For the moment, parents send the meals to their children. We keep them in the fridge and reheat them, if necessary.

DO THE PUPILS WEAR A UNIFORM?

Our pupils are smartly kitted up in white polo shirts and black shorts or skirts (and trousers in winter). The uniforms are bought by the parents before the beginning of the school year at the School Shop.

WHAT IS THE YEARLY INTAKE AT THE FENIX SCHOOL?

We only have one intake per year: in January. We do not take in more than 10 pupils per class in any given year. We have a few remaining seats for 2020. Do call us for more information.

HOW DO WE REGISTER OUR CHILDREN?

We ask families interested in admission to the school to begin registration in April. There is no registration fee. The first fees are only due in June, that is, six months before the child begins studying at The Fenix school . The second instalment is to be paid in November before the school year starts.

DO YOU OFFER EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES?

Yes, we do. depending on the parents' response.
